In 2010 the beautiful Provo tabernacle was gutted by a devastating fire. Many wondered why such a thing would happen and worried what would become of the leftover walls. Ten months later President Monson announced that the historic remains would be transformed into a house of the Lord! Suddenly we were brought to a greater understanding of what the Lord had always seen. He did not cause the fire, of course, but allowed it to clean out the inside to become something better. Sister Linda S. Reeves compared this to our lives: “the Lord allows us to be tried and tested, sometimes beyond our maximum capacity. We [can be] figuratively burned to the ground and wonder why a loving and caring Heavenly Father would allow such things to happen. But He does not leave us in the ashes; He stands with open arms; eagerly inviting us to come to him. He is building our lives to be magnificent temples that His Spirit may dwell in eternally.” What can you do to fully submit to the Lord’s will? How can you maintain this same perspective in your own life?
